Placements are offered to pupils with SEMH needs however SEMH does not necessarily need to be named on the EHCP as the primary need. Presenting behaviours are typically secondary to their primary needs or diagnoses eg ASD, ADHD

Pupils in most year groups must have a draft or final Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP). Reception pupils typically have an EHCNA in progress with evidence of professional involvement.

Transport will need to be considered on a case by case basis. For younger pupils, placements are unlikely if travel exceeds 45 minutes to avoid negative impacts on emotional regulation and attendance.

To maintain stability, the school admits a maximum of 2 pupils per term and restricts each year group to 6 children.

Referrals are managed through Local Authority SEND departments; direct applications from parents or schools are not accepted. The process includes school visits, potential home visits, and a Welcome Pack.

All placements begin with a 6–8 week "RESET" basis at The Nest to establish norms and integrate children into the community before a transition review meeting.
